The largest of several gorgeous ponds on the property - this is Llyn Mawr, as you enter the grounds...The cemetery was established in 1864 and designed by Jacob Wiedenmann, then Hartford's Park Superintendent and landscape designer. There are over 2000 trees and 100+ species/varieties on the grounds, covering 270 acres! Some of the trees date to the 19th century. There are three "tree walks" ranging from 1/2 to almost 2 miles and map/brochures are available at the office. Do try for a fall visit if you can! |
