The FDR Presidential Library and Museum on Route 9 in Hyde Park, NY, opened June 30, 1941 and offers multi-media displays of Franklin D. Roosevelt's years as president, including much memorabilia and a history of the Great Depression. FDR is often credited with bringing the US out of the economic meltdown that began with the stock market crash of 1929...

From the rear of the home, the Hudson River can just barely be seen in the upper left portion of the image. Years ago, the view of the river was extensive when the trees were much younger!

Saint Margaret of Antioch Episcopal Church in Staatsburg, just off Route 9 on the east bank of the Hudson River. Routes 9, 9D and 9W follow a good portion of both banks of the Hudson. They are designated "Scenic Highways" and offer some great scenery and interesting little towns to explore, such as Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Highland to name just a few...Nearby are the Catskill Mountains in the Catskill Forest Preserve, covering over 287,000 acres with 98 peaks at more than 3000 feet in elevation!

 

The Hudson River Valley, with Kingston, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and the nearby Catskill Mountains offer a great getaway, even for a day.
